Supporting Teacher Training Colleges in AngolaDAPP UK is supporting teacher training colleges in Angola to help fulfill the Millenium Goal that all children will receive a primary school level education by 2015. DAPP UK is supporting two Teacher Trainng Colleges in Angola, in the provinces of Bengo, Kwanza Norte and Zaire. In order for the Millenium goal of providing primary school-level education to every child in the world, thousands of teachers need to be trained, and DAPP has decided to support teacher training facilities across sub-Saharan Africa.
The idea of the School for the Teachers of the Future Caxito is to train primary school teachers, highly qualified and prepared to guide people in educational frames.
These teachers are professionally prepared and convinced that all children should go to school; they acquire knowledge of modern methods of teaching and teach their students to do the same. They are interested in, and capable of discovering the tendencies for the future of society in general and for the individual in particular, give their utmost and teach the pupils to be like them, understanding that education is not just a technical question but that the motivation of students comes from themselves and the teacher teaches with compassion and gives 100% effort unconditionally.
DAPP is also funding colleges in the more remote areas of Angola, as rural areas need qualified and modern education for the children living there, and teachers can also spearhead community building in the area around the school. This means that the teachers are reaching out to the children in the rural areas, and also their parents and the general community.
The school started in 1996. So far 6 teams have graduated with a total of 362 teachers, from the provinces of Zaire, Bengo, Luanda, Malanje, Kwanza Norte, Kwanza Sul, Moxico, Kuando Kubango, Uíge and Lunda Norte. The majority of the graduated teachers have returned to teach in the same provinces.
DAPP UK is supporting these programmes in order to help fulfill the millenium goal about education by the year 2015. We are hopeful that one day all children will be able to receive education,
